Medicare Agent in Irvine, California

Irvine is one of the most master-planned cities in the country, built village by village around the University of California, Irvine, and it draws Medicare-eligible residents from every part of the world — many of whom moved here later in life to be near adult children. I am Karla Aramburo, a licensed, independent, bilingual insurance agent serving Irvine and the surrounding villages. I compare the plans available for your ZIP code and explain your options clearly in English or Spanish, at no cost to you.

Medicare help in Irvine and central Orange County

I work with Medicare beneficiaries throughout Irvine's villages and the nearby cities, including Tustin, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and the Laguna Woods retirement community just south of Irvine. Many Irvine families split care between a UCI Health specialist and a neighborhood clinic, so we build your comparison around the doctors and pharmacy you actually use.

UCI Health, Hoag, and Kaiser all serve Irvine — but not on the same plan

Irvine sits within reach of three major health systems: UCI Health, anchored by UCI Medical Center in nearby Orange and the growing UCI Health — Irvine campus and Irvine Health & Wellness Campus inside the city itself; Hoag, which operates the Hoag Health Center Irvine for outpatient and specialty visits; and Kaiser Permanente, with a dedicated Kaiser Permanente Irvine Medical Offices location. Each system has its own network of Medicare Advantage contracts, and a plan that includes one rarely includes all three.

Because UCI Health is also an academic medical center, some Irvine residents specifically want a plan that keeps access to UCI specialists for clinical trials or complex conditions, while others prefer staying inside the Kaiser system for its integrated records and pharmacy. We check which network your actual doctors sit in before recommending anything.

A planned city where many residents retired to be near family

Irvine's villages — Woodbridge, Northwood, Turtle Rock, University Park, and the newer Great Park neighborhood — were built with multigenerational living in mind, and a large share of my Irvine clients are parents or grandparents who relocated from another state or country to live near adult children working in Orange County's job centers. That often means comparing a Medicare plan for the first time in a new city, without decades of local history to lean on.

I walk through every term — Part A, Part B, Medicare Advantage, Part D, Medigap, deductibles, copays, and prior authorization — in plain English or Spanish, and I am glad to include adult children in the conversation when that makes the decision easier for the family.

Medicare Advantage, Part D, and Medigap explained

Medicare Advantage (Part C) is offered by private insurers and bundles hospital and medical coverage, often with prescription drugs and extras like dental, vision, or transportation. In exchange, you typically use a provider network and follow referral or prior authorization rules that can differ sharply between UCI Health, Hoag, and Kaiser plans available in Irvine.

Original Medicare covers Part A and Part B and generally lets you see any provider nationwide who accepts Medicare. A stand-alone Part D plan adds prescription coverage, and a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy can help with deductibles and coinsurance Original Medicare leaves behind. Read our Medicare Advantage vs. Medigap comparison and our Plan G vs. Plan N guide for a deeper look before we talk.

I also help with life insurance, final expense coverage, annuities, and retirement income planning for Irvine families.

Verifying UCI Health, Hoag, and Kaiser networks before you enroll

Because Irvine sits at the crossroads of three separate systems, we never assume a plan covers your full care team. We confirm whether UCI Health, Hoag, or Kaiser Permanente Irvine is in a plan's current network, along with your primary doctor, any specialists in Newport Beach or Orange, and your preferred pharmacy.

Some Irvine residents also see specialists at CHOC Children's or St. Joseph Hospital in Orange for a grandchild's care, or fill prescriptions near the Irvine Spectrum or Diamond Jamboree shopping areas. We map out your whole care team and check each medication's formulary tier and estimated annual cost, not just the advertised premium.

A plan should fit daily life in Irvine

Many Irvine residents stay active on the city's extensive bike trail network or at William R. Mason Regional Park, and value a plan with fitness benefits like SilverSneakers. Others living near Laguna Woods or with adult children in Newport Beach split their time between cities and want a plan whose network and telehealth options travel with them.

Someone managing an ongoing condition may prioritize continuity with a specific UCI Health specialist over a lower premium, while a healthier retiree might value the lower cost-sharing of a Kaiser HMO. There is no single right answer — only the plan that matches how you actually live in Irvine.

Medicare enrollment dates to know

Your Initial Enrollment Period is the seven-month window around your 65th birthday. If you have active employer coverage through UC Irvine, a tech employer in the Irvine Spectrum, or another large company, your timing may differ, so review our guide on turning 65 while still working before delaying Part B.

The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, when you can switch Medicare Advantage plans, return to Original Medicare, or change Part D coverage for the following year. If you already have Medicare Advantage, the Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31 allows one additional change.

A move to Irvine from another city or state, losing employer coverage, or another qualifying event may open a Special Enrollment Period — see our Special Enrollment Period guide or ask me directly.

Independent, no-cost help in Irvine

We start with a short conversation about your current coverage, doctors, medications, hospital preferences, and budget. You do not need a perfect list or Medicare expertise — I help organize what matters most for your comparison, and I follow me on Instagram @karla__aramburo for plain-language Medicare tips.

As an independent agent, I am not limited to one insurance company. I compare the carriers and plans available in Irvine, explain their strengths and limitations honestly, and let you make the final decision. My guidance and enrollment help are free because licensed agents are paid by insurance companies, not by you. I also offer life insurance options that accept an ITIN for families without a Social Security number.

Availability, cost, benefits, and eligibility vary by person, product, contract, and insurance company, as well as by your service area. Frequently asked questions

Do you offer Medicare help in Spanish in Irvine?

Yes. I am fully bilingual and explain coverage, costs, provider networks, prescriptions, and enrollment steps in English or Spanish. Family members are welcome to join.

Will my Medicare plan cover UCI Health specialists?

It depends on the plan. Some Medicare Advantage plans include UCI Health, Hoag, or Kaiser Permanente Irvine, but rarely all three at once. We verify which network your specific plan includes before you enroll.

Do you serve Tustin, Lake Forest, and Newport Beach too?

Yes. I serve Irvine and nearby central Orange County communities, including Tustin, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Laguna Woods.

How much does a Medicare plan comparison cost?

Nothing. My consultation, plan comparison, and enrollment guidance are free to you. Licensed agents are paid by the insurance companies.

Can you help if I don't have a Social Security number?

Yes. I offer life insurance options that accept an ITIN, and we can review your family's situation confidentially.

I moved to Irvine to be near my kids — do I need a new Medicare plan?

Often yes, especially with a Medicare Advantage plan, since those networks are local. A move can also open a Special Enrollment Period. Bring your current plan and I will check whether it still works from Irvine.

When can I change my Medicare coverage?

Common opportunities include the October 15 to December 7 Annual Enrollment Period and the January 1 to March 31 Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. A move or loss of other coverage may create a Special Enrollment Period.
